Corey Kent Milwaukee Concert reviews
Night of Firsts!
If you can't call yourself a Beatles fan, you missed this show. From the word go, spectacular it was. Most of them, Corey Kent played 39 songs, Beatles songs. It was the ultimate rock-n-roll spectacle to behold, a magical mystery tour of a time long ago, almost forgotten. To get through the 3-hour journey, you might need, "Help". This performance never seemed long, never tiring, only wanting more. The ex-Wings front man McCartney, ex-Beatles, was extremely impressive in this inaugural Safeco Field rock concert. The crowd was also very impressive, singing in unison aloud on almost every song and most noticeably on, "Hey Jude", just before the end of the show. With Corey playing electric guitar, tributes to Jimi Hendrix included a snippet of, "Foxy Lady", and to John Lennon with, "Here Today" (Corey on his Martin acoustic guitar), as well as a touching tribute to George Harrison with, "Something", with Corey playing a ukulele as well as his Martin acoustic guitar. Also, a notable, no introduction, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, for Ringo. After a long crowd sing-a-long and, "Hey Jude", Corey waved goodbye to the adoring throng packed into Safeco Field. Returning to play for an encore a short time later, the Beatles classic, "Day Tripper", was first up. Then, it happened! Corey was joined onstage by the remaining members of the Seattle punk rock band Nirvana. Dave Grohl took a seat at the drum kit, Krist Novaselic on bass, and the Foo Fighters lead guitar man, Pat Smears, shredding his axe, while Corey fronted ala Kurt Cobain, playing the Nirvana song, "Cut Me Some Slack". To end the first encore, "Get Back". But, there was more. A second, 6-song, spine-tingling encore of all Beatles hits starting with, "Yesterday", and ending with a very apropos, "The End". 3 solid hours of reminiscing about the good old days of rock-n-roll. Show totally awesome!
